Aim of the project

The overall goal of SPATELIS is a comprehensive analysis of bacterial and cellular pathways and protein–protein interactions induced during intracellular infection. The study will fully exploit genomic and post genomic data and technologies to identify bacterial proteins, the host ligands engaged, and the cellular processes involved as well as examine dynamic relationships in these processes. The proposal aims at understanding and unravelling the regulatory networks utilized by the bacterium in adapting to intracellular growth during infection and the commonalities of these pathways in different pathovars when confronted with the host. Finally the proposal aims at identifying novel targets and pathways to interrupt and limit intracellular bacterial growth.
